Undoubtedly the best pipe stress book available commercially. What is really good about it is that this is not just one of those piping books where they basically reprint the design equations from the code and give a few explanations.I especially liked the separate chapters devoted to the interfaces with stationary and rotating equipment as in the real world these are usually the limiting factors in piping design.There is also thorough treatment of the background theory behind piping design. He also provides a number of real life case studies on failures that occured due to issues that are very non-intuitive.The book could be improved by having more focus on use of computer packages for stress analysis. One glaring omission from the book is that it ignores the fact that the piping codes make no allowance for branch flexibilities, whereas they do exist in real life and on larger lines they can help a lot. There are methods available to include branch flexibilities but they are not mentioned or dealt with in the book.

Liang-Chuan Peng is an expert of experts in the this arena.. think classical music and you think Mozart or Beet-master- if your starting or ongoing with a lot of stress analysis this is a must have reference!Goes hand in hand with the KBR reference - I use both of these frequently when teaching and resolving stress issues..

The Pengs' book is very detailed and easy to read, an unusual (but welcomed) combination. All equations have legends and the book's index includes a seven-page nomenclature reference. An engineering degree is not required to understand the overviews, but familiarity with piping components and piping design is necessary to fully understand the material.

This is a must have book for all piping engineers. I have found it to answer a lot of questions especially in pipe stress analysis which other piping books and references couldn't answer. It even discusses in detai several analysis methods and how they have evolved with the changes in codes.

I am learning pipe stress analysis to I can teach engineers CAESAR II software. I was told this book is the bible for pipe stress analysis. It is really good. Of all my references I use it most. Peng is the master.

I've had this book for around a year now, and if you do any pipe stress analysis you need to get this book. I find myself reaching for this book anything I'm working on a new piping project, it has paid for itself the first time I've needed it.
